The Kerala State Housing Board came into existence on 5th March 1971 as a continuation of the Thiruvananthapuram Urban Reform Trust established in 1961, in line with the national policy and vision. Subject to the provisions of the Kerala State Housing Board Act, 1971, an organized and planned systematic system is required to satisfactorily meet the housing needs of people belonging to various income groups.

MN Lakh House Reconstruction Project
During the 14th Five Year Plan (2022-27) period, 5000 dilapidated semi-detached houses will be rehabilitated into single houses at the rate of 1000 houses per year for 5 years and handed over to the consumers.
Flats are constructed on government land for government employees and handed over to the revenue department. The project is implemented by using the budget allocation of the government.
Scheme implemented by the Board in various districts with the aim of bringing government offices under one roof.
A scheme to provide accommodation at reasonable rents to patients seeking treatment in state medical colleges. Construction has started in connection with Thrissur and Alappuzha Medical Colleges.
Housing Schemes
Housing scheme implemented by collecting advance amount from beneficiaries. Construction of Ambalanagar 88 flats and Nettayam 66 flats in Thiruvananthapuram will start soon
