Kerala State Housing Board

 

Organised and planned development of building activties particurlarly of residential accomadation has been lacking in the State.Various Governemental and Non-Governmental agencies are executive house building schemes without any c-ordination.The agencies have also not been able to function effectively due to their inability ton funds at the proper time.

The Housing Minister's Conference hold to 1957 and in 1961 had recommended the establishment of a Housing Board or Corporation in every State.Housing Board already been established in many other States.

Santhinagar Model village

Chief Minister Sri Ommen Chandy  laid the foundation stone of Shanthinagar  Model Village, the housing   welfare project for 340 coastal families at West Hill beach in Kozhikode; the former Bangladesh Colony is a model  for the whole state by giving the message, that there is no political difference in  people’s welfare schemes. He also announcing the  second phase of “Sparsam”.A project for empowering coastal women with  various self employment schemes.
